Our Dance Season
The Renee Johnson's Dance Studio season runs much like any school calendar. The fall dance season at begins the Tuesday after Labor Day, runs through May, and culminates with our annual production after Memorial Day. The studio is closed the week of Thanksgiving, and for two weeks over the Holiday break. Dancers are allowed to register for classes up until this date and then we close registration so our dancers can prepare for our production. We have a Spring Break following the Rockwood School District break and continue our classes through the end of May when we also have scheduled dress rehearsals and recitals. While dancers are not required to participate in this annual event, we take pride in creating an elaborate and professional production and this opportunity provides not only a goal for the student but an opportunity to share the experience of dance with family and friends. We recognize the importance of performance in a student’s dance education and encourage your dancer’s participation. More specific recital information can be found here!
The fun doesn't stop at the end of our recitals! While we do not offer a full summer class schedule, RJ's is active with ballet and jazz technique classes twice a week, special themed young dancer camps, little dancer sessions, pop up classes, and our summer dance intensive. We also have auditions for dancers interested in our nationally renowned competition team during the summer months.
In the event of bad weather, we ask that you call the studio or check the Web site. A message will be on the answering machine and home page of our Website for your convenience. We do not always follow the Rockwood/Parkway school closings; please call or check the Web site prior to coming to class if weather is inclement. Each class is allowed one snow day without a make-up class. If more than one snow day occurs, a make-up class or alternate class time will be given for a make-up. Classes will not be prorated.
PARENT WATCH WEEKS
We do not allow parents into the dance rooms or open our observing windows during regular class time. This is to keep your dancer focused and learning from the instructors. We do invite our parents and visitors into the studio three times a year during our scheduled Parent Watch Weeks to observe and enjoy your dancer’s individual and class progress and to hear from the instructor.
